What does Green Print label on the packaging mean?

Entrepreneurs cannot let the fact go unnoticed that nature protection and preservation is important to modern consumers; therefore, people are willing to pay more for environmentally friendly products.

In 2003 we created the Green Print label hand in hand with the Estonian Fund for Nature (ELF). This is the Ecoprint ecolabel which certifies that the packaging has been made with environmentally aware choices. The Green Print label may only be used on Ecoprint’s products.

However, the development of the label was a time-consuming process. Certified paper and natural print dyes that matched the requirements were hard to come by. In addition, it took us years to get the print density and dye amounts right.

The Estonian Fund for Nature (ELF) helped with environmentally friendly production technologies, and we at Ecoprint (then called Triip) were ready to experiment with new solutions and take economic risks. Thus, with knowledge and courage, the environmentally friendly print label was born.

In 2004, the Green Print became a registered brand. Using the logo can make you stand out among competitors and demonstrate the company’s care for the environment. This small, and free action is a message to your clients, partners as well as employees which says that your company makes informed choices.

The label certifies, that:

  • packaging or other printed material uses dyes based on natural resins and oils instead of petrochemicals
  • certified (FSC®) or recycled raw material has been used to make the product
  • packaging or other printed material has been made with environmentally friendly technologies.

If you, as a consumer, want to contribute to nature conservation, choose the packaging with the Green Print logo. Thus, you can be sure that the production process has followed environmentally aware standards.
