Ecoprint’s survey: the overabundance of waste and garbage is the most important environmental issue for Estonian customers
The results of the environmental survey organised by Ecoprint among its customers at the beginning of the year show that the company’s Estonian customers consider the large amount of waste and garbage to be the main environmental issue. This was the opinion of 56.9% of the approximately hundred responding customers. Customers from foreign countries, mainly Scandinavia, consider plastics in the oceans to be the most burning environmental issue (75% of respondents).
“Since establishing the company, our focus has been offering environmentally friendly printing and packaging solutions to our customers. To get a sense about the attitudes of both Estonian and foreign customers regarding environmental issues and their willingness to cooperate with us in green initiatives, we asked our customers what they thought about the subject and were already doing in this field,” said Margo Tärn, CEO of Ecoprint about the purpose of the survey. “We got a clear message – the fact that we opt for environmentally friendly materials in producing packages from corrugated cardboard and cardboard as well as in printing is considered increasingly more valuable by the customers,” added Margo Tärn.
According to the survey, the second most important issue for Estonian customers is the concern for wasting in general and wasting food in particular. This is considered a grave issue by 43.1% of the respondents. The third place in the ranking of environmental issues is shared by overpackaging goods, and plastics in the ocean (both were considered important by 36.9% of the respondents). Foreign customers consider climate change the second most important issue (62.5% of the respondents), and rank world population growth third among the issues (50% of the respondents).
In addition to identifying the most important environmental issues, the survey also inquired about general interest in environmental subjects. 63.6% of the respondents confirmed that they follow environmental news and trends on a regular basis (the proportion was 75% among foreign customers). The survey also highlighted the positive fact that 84.6% of the Estonian respondents make environmentally friendly choices on a daily basis, e.g., sort their waste (78.8% of the respondents), avoid creating excessive waste (75%), and overpackaging their products (57.6%).
There are companies from various fields among the respondents of the survey. More than half of the respondents were production companies that order product packages from Ecoprint, as well as publishing houses and service providers that mainly order print materials.
